Frequently Asked Questions

How do I store my bread?

Sealed on the counter is perfectly fine for 3–5 days. Refrigeration works for 5-7 (but texture can vary).
For anything longer — and for the best texture — slice the loaf and freeze the slices. They thaw beautifully and keep their structure.

How do I reheat?

Just slice your bread and place in a preheated oven or toaster oven @400-425 for 3-7 minutes. A coating of your favorite (butter, oil, etc…) is a personal favorite when reheated.

Can I cancel my monthly subscription partway through?

If you’re unhappy, or money is tight, just contact us and we’ll work to get you a refund of your remaining monthly balance. Alternately if you want, you can donate the remainder of your month to local families in need.

How do you make your bread?

At The Doughfellow Bakery, every loaf begins with simple, honest ingredients: flour, water, salt, and our lively sourdough starter. We use long fermentation, careful stretch-and-fold techniques, and hand-shaping to create loaves with a crisp, golden crust and a soft, flavorful interior.

All of our breads are made in small batches, using traditional methods that highlight flavor, texture, and character. Every loaf is mixed, shaped, and baked right here in New Franklin, with patience and purpose — never rushed, never automated.

Our process includes:

  • Naturally leavened sourdough fermentation

  • High-hydration, long-rest doughs

  • Hand shaping

  • Slow proofing

  • Hot hearth baking for that signature crackle

Nothing artificial.
Nothing unnecessary.
Just real bread, crafted with care.
